Washing Your Car, Properly!

Although most of us wash our cars in our driveway or take it to the local car wash without much thought, proper care of your car’s exterior finish is one of the most important lessons to maintain its beauty. Your car’s paint job is the first physical attribute people associate with, and the most expensive element to replace or repair.

In order to properly care for your car, having the right tools and supplies is essential. Start by investing in a 100% cotton-based cloth or a paint-safe microfiber wash mitt designed specifically for automotive use. Next, consider a pH balanced, non-detergent formula for your wash solution. These types of solvents prevent paint stripping and scratching while maintaining a protective shine. Finally, just as important as washing your vehicle, the drying process is essential to manage water spots causing the build up of mineral deposits that are highly damaging to the paint finish. Use a 100% cotton detailing cloth or sheepskin chamois to not only maximize water absorption but avoid potential scratches that polyester and microfiber cloths may cause.
